Not Prejudiced

Jonathan and Kayleigh are so much fun - both very individual and interesting and charming. Jonathan and I went to "Roving Mars" last Saturday at the IMAX and it was a fairly technical show for a 6 year old but he seemed to enjoy it. We then had Amy's ice cream and he got to pick a CD of his favorite artist - no surprise there that it was Sheryl Crow. We played an ongoing Monopoly game in which Jonathan was introduced to the fact that houses on one's property are like money in hand. Kayleigh is a delight - her happy dance would cheer anyone up and her impish look when she is getting ready to do something that she probably shouldn't be doing is wonderful. We walked down to the tot lot and played and walked back. Other than her strong desire to climb to higher places, she is pretty patient - no problem sitting quietly to have her hair blown dry. Elizabeth, Dale and I enjoyed watching some episodes of "To Play the King" and E & I made a trip to a great kitchen store. An added pleasure of the weekend was to get to see Jennifer briefly and see Magda taking her first wobbly steps unaided. Also, got to see Felicia briefly while she was in Austin on business.

Rigoletto

Once in a while you get to experience the thrill of the "perfect wave" of an opera - Rigoletto was it on Friday evening. All of the voices were beautiful and worked well together - the famous quartet was well balanced and musically spectacular. It was a beautiful production including hedonistic courtesans showing lots of leg and a un-Verdian reference to an incestual relationship between Sparafucile and Maddalena. Leah and I had an excellent meal at Shaw's before the opera. It was a delightful evening after a long work week.
