Chip and Seal Driveway

Our driveway has a new chip and seal surface. Hopefully this will alleviate having to bring in new gravel every year. The trucks used for our driveway were not as big as the ones in the picture but did the same thing. One person held a hose connected to the tar and sprayed it on the driveway, then the chips were spread and then the chips were rolled. It looks good but more importantly it wasn't a quagmire when it rained. There are some places that need some patching - hopefully that will get done tomorrow.

Austin

Arrived in Austin Friday evening. Elizabeth is huge, but looks wonderful. I had a great time with Jonathan on Saturday while E&D were out shopping for most of the day. We played almost every game he had - he's quite good and fair about games. He disagreed with one of my moves and said "Well, let's read the directions", which he proceeded to do. When he finished he said, "Yes, you're right - that's okay to do." He's also quite a conversationalist.

Eliz has set me up with my own screen on her computer so I can "do my own thing" with e-mail etc. I could get used to this! Having Roadrunner is really a pleasure.

Now everything is all ready - it's time for ??? Churchett to put in an appearance.

1st Ever Pedicure

Compliments of Elizabeth, I had a superb pedicure yesterday. The nail polish is the least of the delights of having a pedicure. The soaking, the foot massage, the creams and the attention were wonderfully decadent. And the massage chair to sit in while the having the pedicure was also a treat!! Thank you, Elizabeth.

Jonathan & Boppa

Boppa arrived yesterday and he was the king of the mountain for Jonathan including being Jonathan's choice for getting him ready for bed. I had mentioned to Pat that Jonathan was now standing to go to the bathroom. When J went to the bathroom at bedtime, he sat down and this is a reasonably accurate transcript of the conversation:

B: I thought you stood up now to widdle.

J: Yes, when I widdle, but when I have "jobbies" if I don't sit down, I find the "jobbies" go on the floor.

Both Mum and Dad disavow any knowledge of this every happening!

Kayleigh Churchett

Based on her advanced age of 2 1/2 days, Kayleigh is a beautiful baby. She has a pretty little mouth and dimples (although she does appear to have Dale's thighs, which on Dale are, of course, pretty). She is sleeping through almost anything - a very good characteristic for a second child. Mum & Dad are doing a great job of keeping Jonathan involved and spending time with him. It looks like he has some protective tendencies - the first morning J heard her cry, he said, "Mum, what are you doing to that poor baby". It is a pleasure to be here and share in holding her and watching her. Once again E&D have done well!
