Spring Break

What a fun spring break week with E, J and K at the farm, packed full of activity but still relaxing. Monday, Jonathan did his treasure hunt even though it was nippy outside. When we cautioned Kayleigh to step around a cow paddy, she said, "when are we going to get out of this dirty place". By Thursday when we were taking a walk through the cow pastures and woods, she wanted to pick up the the cow paddies and throw them in the creek. J and Boppa discussed words and their Latin origins. T&G came over from Lawrence for pizza at lunch and E,P,G & C played harp and recorder quartets - we thought we sounded pretty good. K bonded with T and they took a long walk and then did a few exercises together. Lunch at the T-Rex cafe on Wednesday; this time K was not frightened of the full size roaring, moving dinosaurs. J and C played several games of Yu Gi Oh which C has slowly gotten the gist of; it isn't checkers, for sure! And, of course, a ride on the Carousel in Leavenworth. To top off the week, they got up the day they were leaving to a fresh snowfall. They were quite thrilled to see snow; fortunately it wasn't so much that it make the drive back to Texas difficult.

Rita:

and I got to host, K, J, and E during their return to Austin. This morning Kayleigh woke me and climbed in bed with me. We played hide & seek from an imaginary bear. E and I watched a really good movie Saturday after the kids were down for the night. "Reign Over Me" was very good. It starred Don Cheadle and Adam Sandler. I was very surprised by how much I liked Adam's performance. He was excellent. Also, Elizabeth performed several pieces on the harp. She is very good, and what a beautiful sound!

Sounds like a lovely time. I sure wish Kansas was closer to Texas!
