Americana

Last Tuesday after a couple of hours at Googols, an indoor play area, E, J, K, P & I went to supper with G & T and then to a band concert in the park at a hundred year old bandstand in Lawrence. It certainly was a slice of Americana with all of the people sitting on chairs and blankets and bunches of children running around. There were a few jugglers practicing in one area. Since then we have gone to Science City, a now annual event, and enjoyed it again including the new exhibit - A Rail Experience. It was hard to tear J away from the locomotive simulator. But the interesting event was when K appeared behind the model train exhibit where the model builders work. Here she was with all sorts of glue, paint and paintbrushes in front of her and E & I could not figure out how she got in there - she was quite content and was moving the stool around and getting ready to sit on it when E found the hidden door and rescued her or more to the point rescued the model builders materials from K.

Since then we have enjoyed hanging out at the farm - K loves the cows and the gator - and riding on the carrousel in Leavenworth. J & I have played lots of games and he reads and entertains himself very well. Later this week we'll go to the zoo in Topeka - a new destination.

I do an outdoor concert here in Central Park with the Philharmonic. There are blankets and chairs but now that I think of it...there aren't quite so many children.
