Pre-Karneval

We're in Trier now, the oldest city in Germany - founded in 16BC. We happened upon a pre-Karneval open-air celebration today in the market square. And, imagine! The temperature is in the low 30s. There were bands, people in costume, bier tents, sausage stands. People were drinking beer and glühwein and dancing in the streets. A good time was had by all.

Daddy:

Hey! Our interest was purely scientific. Anthropological, almost. But how could we be sure what these people were drinking in their heathen celebrations without trying a little ourselves? As for the dancing, we could tell that's what they were doing without actually participating ourselves.

We will be conducting some more scientific experiments into the drinking habits of these people today.

Daughter:

And did you guys join in the dancing, or just the imbibing?
