Big Weekend

Thursday evening, friends T&G arrived from California where they had spent a month in a co-housing unit in Oakland. They were very positive about their experience and the co-housers sounded like a diverse, interesting group. T&G are interested in the co-housing concept and hope the one in Lawrence gets going. While P&G played tennis on Saturday morning, T&C checked out a a new state park about a half hour drive from our house. It is a small, but very nice park including some pleasant hiking trails and an asphalted bike trail.

And speaking of bike trails, we are now the proud owners of bikes. Notice I said proud owners - we are not yet proud riders but if the weather warms up some today we'll go out for a spin. P got his bike a few days ago and has gone up and down the road by our house. I'm going to start on asphalt and something not so hilly. We have some neat accoutrements including a computerized speedometer/odometer.

Elizabeth probably does think we bought only one bike, whereas I'm pretty sure we didn't only buy one bike, but two. There was a time, however, when we had only bought one bike. In any case, I'm pretty sure we don't want to be travelling to Wichita Falls in the middle of the summer to do outdoor games. Maybe in the middle of the fall?

Kathleen:

Alas, the AARP triathlons will no longer be held. I received a letter a month or so ago thanking me for participating in last year's AARP triathlon and informing me there would be no future ones. I invite you to the Wichita Falls triathlon, though, because I'm pretty sure the distances are short and it is a smaller (in attendees) tri. If Elizabeth thinks you bought only one bike, could it be that you are owners of a tandem?

Rita:

Oh man, I am getting that new bike fever. The WF triathlon will be a perfect event for you two to do. I think that Kathleen, Felicia, Jennifer, Joanna and Daniel are going to be doing it as well

Elizabeth:

I thought Daddy said on the phone last week that you guys had bought only one bike--did you get one too? If so, that's great--now you can do some AARP triathlons together!

The park sounds nice. On his sleepover this weekend, Jonathan went on a two-hour walk with Jfer, Homer, and I assume Stepan in Walnut Creek park; Jen said he did quite well. I bet he would like the hiking trails.
