It's been a great year for the garden - rain at all of the right times. The other day I fixed English peas with mint and Pat ate them. We also have raw peas on our salads - quite tasty. We've also had lots of broccoli, about 4 heads of cabbage, lettuce (gone now, too hot), spinach, onions, zucchini and yesterday the first new potatoes. The acorn squash are growing but haven't picked any yet and hopefully soon the tomatoes.
I won't mention the multitudes of weeds that also inhabit the garden.

Your gardening skills is the reason I love green beans today. The first time I ever tried green beans was one of my many dinners with you and Pat in Houston and you (or Pat?) made fresh green beans from your garden with some sort of a warm vinegar dressing. Fantastic!

Mmmm...I do like squash and zucchini bread. Does that count for anything? I do remember eating your new potatoes the last time Kevin, Jer, and I came thru on the way to Chicago. They sure were delicious.

Dale says he's glad Pat has discovered that peas are not "inherently evil." I myself picked about 6 cherry tomatoes and a good-sized handful of beans this evening--exciting! And I do have some squash growing too (summer squash).

How idyllic the pastoral, country life sounds! Patrick ate peas? You've got to be kidding. Mother will never believe it!
