Downy Woodpecker

We can look out the den window and see the male and female downy woodpeckers pecking at the suet block that Pat attached to the limestone house. They're cute little fellows and fun to watch. It's still cold up here - 9 degrees yesterday morning - so our outdoor activities consist of looking outside from the inside!

When do you expect it to warm up? The weather here was beautiful over the weekend (high in the low 70s), but since it was overcast all day, I didn't give the consequences of spending 5 hours outdoors a single thought. I've got a fairly impressive sunburn on my chest and shoulders.

Elizabeth:

That is a sweet-looking little bird. I hung up a suet block of my own this afternoon; hopefully something equally appealing will visit mine.
